Friday, 19 July 2024 ------------------------ Hello. All is well. God is love. Yesterday, it finally happened. The plasterer arrived with a buddy to repair the wall in my flat, though I still had to paint it myself. They were in their fifties. They were kind people, people with character and integrity. I talked with them for hours about money, immigration, religion, god, and life in general. The plasterer was an atheist and a humanist. He recommended I read the works of Christopher Hitchens, which I intend to do. We ended up agreeing that love and kindness were worth fighting for. I sensed he was an empathetic man. A man of true strength. He was not worried for himself but for his son and how to enable him to thrive in today's society. People I meet often say I am mature and wise for my age. Well. I'm a child pretending to be an adult, and he knew that as well, perhaps not consciously, but in his intuition. I could never be a man of substance like him or his son, but I will do my best. They are the spine of society, and we'll all pay a great price if we give them the cold shoulder and act as self-centered children.
